Our Congregation….
We are located in the center of Western Monmouth County. Temple Beth Shalom has been in existence since 1978, meeting the religious and communal needs of the Jewish population of Manalapan, Englishtown, Marlboro, Freehold, Monroe, Old Bridge and surrounding areas.
Our Temple offers a variety of programs and opportunities to be involved within a Jewish community. We are proud of our facility and all that it has to offer. From our early childhood age programs to our adult education programs, there is something of interest for everyone. Our sense of community and the dedication of our membership has enabled us to continually meet the ongoing needs of our people. Temple Beth Shalom is a Contemporary Conservative Synagogue consisting of energetic congregants who share spirit and warmth.
Our synagogue membership currently consists of approximately 300 families and continues to flourish on an ongoing basis. Our membership consists of young families with children in our Religious School and people who are active adults enjoying our adult education and social and spiritual programs and events. We perceive our synagogue to be a home for people of all ages.
Our building was dedicated on November 18, 1984 and is located on ten acres of land on Route 522(Freehold Road), immediately off Taylors Mills Road in Manalapan.
The facility of TBS has as its focus our beautiful sanctuary. We take pride in its beauty and in the spiritual climate created by this special place. Our two adjoining social halls are utilized by the congregation for special affairs and dinners. Many families choose to celebrate their life cycle events in our building. On the High Holidays, the sanctuary and social halls are combined. In addition to our sanctuary, social halls and kitchen, our education wing includes administrative offices, a library, 9 classrooms and our activity center(gym/all purpose room). Our outside facility includes ample parking, our Sukkah and playground. Temple Beth Shalom’s facility is a source of pride to our congregation.
Joining a Synagogue is a very personal decision. It shouldn’t ONLY be because your child is attending Hebrew School or you want your child to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, it should be because you have found a second home, not only a place where you pray but where you socialize, learn and feel comfortable. Making a connection with the clergy and staff and with the people that are a part of your synagogue family is of the utmost importance. Our year begins July 1 and ends June 30 the following year. There are many membership categories and fee structures. There is a place for everyone to fit at Temple Beth Shalom. For more information, contact us at 732-446-1200 or e-mail us at Templebeth@aol.com. Check out our Facebook Page at Temple Beth Shalom of Western Monmouth for a look at some of our programming. We will talk, tell you about our synagogue, our clergy, our programs, and all pertinent information needed. We are ready to answer any questions you may have. There will always be a place for you at Temple Beth Shalom.
